See ‘Getting in’ ratings above and in the Section 3 field of study
UB is dedicated to increasing the higher education
participation rates of students from rural and regional areas. The
university provides the Regional Education Entry Program
(REEP) for students completing Year 12 in nominated regional
and rural Victorian schools, as well as nominated schools in the
Melbourne metropolitan area and New South Wales. The
program enables Year 12 students in eligible schools to access
selected degrees using alternative entry criteria.
UB also offers a university preparation program for those
who do not meet standard entry requirements through UB
College. The Foundation Access Studies Program (FAST) is a
full-time program run over one semester. Students who
successfully complete the program will be offered a place in a
degree program the following semester.
In many fields, diploma students have the option to articulate
directly into the third year of a relevant degree, and the university
takes prior learning and experiences into consideration through
the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment processes.
All institutions have their own admission rules, so refer to UB’s
website and the local tertiary admission centre’s publications.
Costs and scholarships
UB offers Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) to domestic
students. In addition to government scholarships (see page 40 for
more details), the following are just some of the prizes, bursaries
and scholarships that are awarded to undergraduate students. To
find out more about eligibility criteria, contact UB directly.
University of Ballarat Regional Relief Scholarship: This
