The International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) is a
specialist hotel management institution aimed at the top end of
the hospitality market. Students come to the college’s Adelaide
campus to enjoy more than a century of European tradition and a
fresh, work-ready approach to education. ICHM shares its
Adelaide campus with the Regency campus of TAFE SA and Le
Cordon Bleu (see separate profiles).
ICHM is the only Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) school
outside of Europe. The SHA is the world’s oldest industry body
and is globally renowned for its hotel management education.
ICHM’s ‘One Program, Two Degrees’ model comprises the
bachelor of business (hospitality management), followed by the
bachelor of international hotel management (Swiss Hotel
Association). The first three years includes a mixture of formal
study and six-month paid industry placements, resulting in the
bachelor of business (hospitality management). The bachelor of
international hotel management (Swiss Hotel Association) takes
a further one or two semesters of study. Industry placements
may be undertaken in Australia or overseas.
ICHM has access to purpose-built facilities and state-of-the-
art equipment, including training kitchens, a restaurant that is
open to the public, a simulated hotel front office, function centres
and bars, as well as two wine appreciation laboratories. All first-
year and some students in other years live on campus during the
academic year in shared villa-style apartments. The furnished
single bedrooms are equipped with computers, recreation
facilities and broadband internet access, and all meals are
